Medilink Midlands welcomes ISO specialists IMSM to its membership, with over 25+ years experience and over 15,000 successful implementations for standards ranging from Medical Device to Laboratories.
In addition to ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 13485:2016 there are multiple standards available that can boost productivity and security, mitigate risk and reduce waste in your organisation. Below David Coulter, Area Manager debunks myths around certification and highlights how additional ISO Standards can provide a real benefit to your bottom line.
We already have ISO 9001/ISO 13485 in place – why would we want more?
Like most parts of business, ISO Standards keep pace with changing trends and conditions internationally, irrespective of sector. Yes, we work with companies that have been asked to adopt ISO 9001:2015 or ISO 13485:2016 to fulfil customer and regulatory requirements, but even more of our customers recognise the real value these standards provide to their business.
Take data security – not so long ago it was solely the responsibility (or worry) just of the IT department. In 2021 we now see widespread remote working, BYOD (Bring your own device), stacks of company, client and product/IP data and at the same time, relentless cyber threats. Securing your company, customer and product data is now the responsibility of the whole organisation, Administrators through to project managers, client services and senior directors. ISO 27001:2013 provides an internationally accepted management system to deal with the safe management, access, destruction and sharing of data. The majority of the 114 controls deal with business wide processes and procedures, with only a small amount of controls dealing solely with the IT department. This company-wide accountability, matched with international certification, confirms to your customers, both current and prospective, that you have robust, audited, procedures in place to safely handle their data.
The environmental standard, ISO 14001:2015, is another area IMSM see significant growth owing to increased awareness. Working with everyone from architects, software houses, consultants to manufacturers, fabricators and haulage companies we are allowing businesses to address their environmental impact not with a recycling bin, or reusable coffee cups, but a robust Management System that identifies and helps to minimise waste and impact throughout the whole business. IMSM recently launched their environmental initiative with International tree planters Treedom – read more about this exciting partnership and how you can claim your free tree.
EcolightingUK partnered with IMSM to implement ISO 14001:2015 into their business and commented “Eco-lighting UK have benefited over the years from having ISO 9001 and Compliance Manager Tracy Mosey chose to go a step further with the addition of ISO 14001 as a way to show our customers that the company were committed to environmental management as well as quality. Operations Director Stuart Cain added “Environmental issues are becoming more and more important to consumers when choosing products and companies – our B2B partnerships are wanting to work in a more sustainable way by implementing practices that help reduce their impact on the environment.”
