The life sciences, medical and health care community all came together to attend the Medilink WM Business Awards which took place at The Burlington Hotel, Birmingham to recognise the regions success and innovative solutions, supporting the health sector.

STEM funding pot of £400,000 opens for applications

A funding pot of more than £400,000 is now open to schools, charities and not-for-profit organisations across the West Midlands as part of a major Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) education initiative. The Millennium Point Charitable Trust has opened its latest Small Grants Programme for applications, with up to £20,000 available for individual applicants.

West Midlands AHSN launches Digital Health and Skills Lab

The West Midlands Academic Health Science Network (WMAHSN) has launched a Digital Health and Skills Lab. Located within the Serendip Digital Health Quarter in Birmingham, the lab provides a space for the co-design of digital innovations, bringing together health tech businesses, clinicians and patients to develop and test solutions. It is designed to support the WMAHSN’s mission to increase investment in West Midlands life sciences, and to improve the health and wellbeing of people in the region.

WMAHSN crowned winners at ideasUK 33rd International Conference

4th December 2019

The West Midlands Academic Health Science Network (WMAHSN) scooped three awards at the prestigious ideasUK conference, held in Edinburgh on the 13 / 14 November, including the Idea of the Year Award for the Safer Provision and Caring Excellence (SPACE) QI Programme, which sets out to improve the care offered to elderly patients.

AF Aware Week: Thinking Detect, Protect and Perfect

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common heart condition that causes an irregular and often abnormally fast heart rate. It is estimated 26,500 people across the West Midlands currently have undetected AF or aren’t receiving optimal treatment. If left untreated, AF can increase the risk of stroke by around four to five times.
